Some people say one shouldn`t do it, however, there is a sufficient number of successful shooters who use this technique.
I use it for all my LCPs because it gives me a better control.
However, with the LCPs I would only recommend it for smaller or mid-size hands because your index finger comes quite close to the muzzle.
However, no problem for my hand size.
