Gen1 LCP has been my pocket choice for a long time. Max 9 without the optic is pocketable with the optic IWB/OWB and Cargo pocket are all great options.
The Max9 sights are great and it is accurate beyond expectations with the red dot.

I generally pocket carry my LCP Max. I have pocket carried a Kahr P9/40 & G26/27, so the Max 9 could do double duty. That said for OWB, & easier to conceal covered in my no-open-carry state, the Max 9 would be my preference.
Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

I have found my Max9 to be more accurate than I could have hoped for, very reliable, and the sights and trigger are excellent for a firearm of its action type and price point. The slightly greater size also means those with meaty hands are less likely to induce a malfunction due to pressing up on the slide catch or getting flesh between slide and frame. (My step-dad has big mitts, and shoots my Max9 fine, while he had issues with the LCP.)

The differences in size and weight between the two firearms are not dramatic. Even carrying my Max9 with Holosun MRDS inside the waistband in an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5, I often forget it's there it is so light and flat.

I was honestly amazed as well at the Max 9. Coming off almost 30 years of a Kel Tec P11. The gun itself is way more mechanically accurate than the P11, trigger is exponentially better and the sights head and shoulders above!!! With the red dot it's as good as my modified IDPA/IPSC pistol at 25yds. IWB with my Clinger Gear or cargo pocket it just disappears.

I will be looking at the Max9 this weekend. I like the optics ready feature and would even hope to find the Talo version with the CT optic factory included.
CDNN has the Talo edition with CTS-1550 factory installed for $449. I paid $6 shipping and $25 transfer fee. Got it in 3 business days (2 day shipping) too. Co-witness works well so far but I'm going to the range Friday (hopefully). The fellows at my LGS said that I paid less than their wholesale cost. 👍

Crap I paid $500 for the gun and $200 for the optic.

I ordered mine, and it's a very good deal for anyone wanting a firearm of this type. I have heard of many good reports on it and few negative remarks. Remembering it is a polymer small frame designed for carry purposes without being too heavy, easy on the weight for OWB or IWB, and with a high round count. The gun is recommended not to be for +P loads though I'll bet it won't hurt it to shoot a limited number if need be.
I swore years ago I wouldn't be on the 9mm bandwagon, mainly preferring something that starts with a "4". But with circumstances changing with age, physical condition and the need to carry something easily accessible and effective to use, I guess I'll have to put my name on the 9mm list.

Trying to decide on a mico compact 9 and have narrowed it to a hellcat OSP or max9 . Had both sitting on the shops counter and the max 9 trigger was head and shoulders better than the HC almost $100 cheaper is another plus. Does anyone know of any mags available for the ruger over 12 rds, thats one plus in the HC's favor 10,11,13 and 15 are all available compared to the 10 and 12 of the M9

Love everything about my Max but the trigger. After 20-30 rounds my trigger finger hurts, can't shoot a full box at the range. Don't want to decrease the take-up or reduce the pull weight, it's a pocket carry, but would really like a trigger that doesn't hurt. Any ideas?

Trigger pinch ( or bite ) is not uncommon.
Mine went back to Ruger.
No help.
Can't say I know anybody who got that fixed.
Sorry.

May I ask about the grips on your LCP? I'd like to see a close pic and some details about them. Thanks.

It's heat bonded vinyl. Kinda like the gunwraps. You can get most anything!!!
