Yesterday,, in a local gun shop,, (and no,, I'll not disclose where,) I had the privilege of studying a NIB John Taffin "Perfect Packing Pistol. Of course it's a .45 cal convertible.
It was a stainless, 5-1/2" barreled version.
Flat top design too.
But many people have been very upset about the grip to frame fit. Some of the early ones were not very well done,, as Bobby Tyler used a early averaged pattern, while many later production grip frames were not to the same specs.

Well, the FINE folks that were behind this project,, got together & discussed a way to (a) fix the bad ones, AND,, (b) make sure the next ones were NOT that way.
The gun I saw was in the 4xx serial number range.
The grips are stunning for a factory type grip. The fit,, EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This gun felt quite nice,, but I didn't turn the action,, as it was NIB & I didn't want the owner to find a turn line or whatever. I loved the fact that they have a pinned front sight now,, as it can allow us to get a front blade that better fits our desires.

I applaud Jason (at Lipseys) Bobby Tyler (Tyler Gun Works,) Ronnie Wells, (RW Grip Frames) & ALL of the fine people who not only came up with this gun, but how they handled the issue,,!!

Plus,, I'm SURE that Ruger has a lot to do with how things are now done.

I say that if anybody wants one,, and can find one,, they should go ahead & get one. And to make sure it's a complete package,, be sure to get Mike "Doc" Barranti to make you it's serial numbered holster for it.

Me????????? I'm scraping up my pennies,, and looking into a blood bank to see how much they'll give for a few pints. Throw in a few bags of recycling aluminum,, and maybe that JT PPP will come home with me. And I prefer Old Models!!!!!! :D

I think this might be a must have. Let the hunt begin!

I am pleased with the way mine was corrected, in a very reasonable timeframe as well. My holster showed up last week, it makes a nice set up. I might have to pick up a 5-1/2" also!
