Just picked up a new second gen original LCP. Loaded magazine seats oddly and needs a lot of force to lock into place.

A loaded mag throws off the design of the grip. The image on the left is how the magazine seats when loaded. The image on the right is how it seats when empty. It takes a lot of force to get a loaded magazine to seat. Just pushing it by hand doesn't work very well unless you push very hard and wiggle it around. You've got to slam the mag in. After doing this a few times it actually starts denting the bullet and casing of the top magazine round. Is this normal behavior for an LCP?

Quite a few of the sub-compacts have this problem, and not just Rugers, although usually not that bad. My P365 is difficult with a couple magazines. Results from production tolerance stacking of the magwell, and/or the magazine (including the follower). Sometimes the tolerances stack tight, sometimes stack loose, sometimes they cancel out and you get the perfect fit. I'm guessing the problem goes away if the slide is locked back when loading a full mag?
