The light carbine config was the only #3 ever cataloged, and I've never either seen nor heard of any other config for the #3.

The #3 was the light carbine with the light weight barrel, curved butt-straight gripped butt stock with the carbine forearm with a forearm band .

I have never seen one that is anything else nor have I ever seen one advertised in any Ruger literature or catalog.

Lot's of variants out there but I think all were made after the fact, either with #1 wood or custom/after market wood.

I've owned a couple of #3's. I question the classification of the barrel on them as "light weight".

Depended on the caliber. The .45-70s were definitely light, the .22 Hornets, not so much. The outside diameter was/is the same on all calibers.

Yep - I was just handling two #3's a local funshop has F/S - a .30-40 & a .375 Win - and the .375 was a tad lighter.
