Hello all,
Was wondering what would be recommended by way of after market purchases or tweaking for this?

As I am a gunsmith myself, bedding goes without saying, but is an aftermarket trigger worth while, or just a lighter spring and a polishing?

What scope rings for an older Redfield widefield?

Of course only "Ruger" rings with Ruger rifles. But go on their website and click on shop Ruger. Then on th bottom of the left side of the page will be Scope ring finder. Go from there..

I wouldn't waste a nickel on any aftermarket trigger, especially if you're a gunsmith. The factory trigger can be tuned to a nice, crisp 2 1/2-pound pull.

Same with the rings. If your as-issued rings won't accommodate your intended scope, Ruger will gladly exchange the correct rings at no cost to you.

If your M77 was supplied with a No 4 and No 5 rings and you're not mounting a large scope, I recommend that you get lower rings. I traded my No 5 for a No 3 and I like the 3 and 4 combination much better. It permits me to keep my cheek on the stock better and the scope is in better alignment with my eye.

Bought a lower ring and lapped them in. They needed a lot of lapping. Also did some trigger work and it seems fine. Haven't shot it yet.
