The Western states are huge. Oregon is the ninth biggest, but even we can drive 10 hours in one direction and still be in the same state. My Wife drove back from Yakima Washington today and sent me a couple snapshots of the Columbia Basin/Gorge transition...

That first picture looks like she's driving down Maryhill to the Biggs bridge. My daughter lives in White Salmon. The gorge is beautiful especially in the spring when the wild flowers are in bloom.
You are exactly right.

And I love this drive, from the gorge into the basin. The expansive scenery never ends, and could not be imagined without seeing it.

That is one big river and beautiful country.
What I like about the West is that you can actually see the countryside while driving. We have spent a lot of time in the East and most of the time all you see are trees. For example driving on the interstate from Raleigh NC to DC all you see are trees same when going to Kitty Hawk NC. They call the West Big Sky for a reason.

Springtime in Texas and winter in the North :)

I loved checking out your travel photos. It's amazing how a picture can take you back to those moments. I especially liked the one with the sunset; it looks like a postcard! Traveling always gives us such great stories to share. If you're looking for an excellent spot to visit next, I recommend checking out LosAltosResort.com . It has stunning views and a relaxing vibe. It's perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Plus, the food there is fantastic! Nothing beats enjoying a meal with a great view. Please keep sharing your adventures; I can't wait to see where you go next! Traveling is all about making memories, and yours look incredible!

Did she look for the big horn sheep herd seen from I-84 in the mile markers about 115 to 120. Normally they on the slope but sometimes near the freeway. I once seen 2 rams on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes.

My wife and I toured much of the west. Thank God I took photos. There is not many places I could go that would not remnd me of Nita being by my side. And her admonition:

"Now look me in the eyes and promise you won't get too close to the edge and scare me."

Contrary to what some say, Florida is a beautiful state to those who take a second to actually look. Suburbia isn't so bad.

Ten seconds before I took this one a couple with $everal thou worth of gear passed me and said there's nothing to take pix of at Shark Valley. Me and my lowly Nikon D90.
