The 80's were an amazing time for Mad Scientist IHMSA shooters. Dan Wesson and Ruger gave us guns strong enough to withstand what we were throwing at them. Much like Elmer Keith in the 1950's pushing the 44 special to the edge of conventional wisdom several names emerged from the 80's as well for pushing the envelope even further. He actually got his name on his "Wildcat" where so many others were usurped by manufacturers. 357 Moleman became 350 Legend, 450 Biggun became 450 Bushmaster not to mention the people who developed the 460&500 S&W which were merely stretching his rounds just a little bit. His name will live on as long as people are using his rounds.

And Life goes on................................

We, the gun community, get accustomed to those we read or hear about who are instrumental in the furtherance of the handgun and think, "there will never be another." Never another Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton, "Pop" Eimer and so on and on. But these greats left their legacy for others to come and take their place. No, there will never be another John Linebaugh, but what he left behind will sprout and grow. Don't mourn for him, but for ourselves at his loss. But, at the same time, encourage those who he influenced and will come along in due time.

To the memory of John Linebaugh: "Thank you."
