BTW …. I think the older guy in the truck was right. In hindsight he should have our could have stayed in his truck. BUT, the younger guy was the aggressor by approaching him and swatting the phone.

Likely the brown shoe/boot guy will seek out a lawyer and attempt to get his medical bills paid. Lucky the guy who threw the punch was on tape. Even though he got out to confront the brown shoe guy. Brown shoe guy was the aggressor by walking up to the pickup and getting into the drivers face and slapping the phone out of the guy's hand. legal terms, his actions caused his injuries. By doing all of the above. He created the situation for a reasonable person to defend themself.
All that said, we don't know what was said between the two men. What was said could cause another outcome.
In the end whatever happened while they were driving. It's neither party's legal right to confront/ stop/ threaten/ injury/ damage property of another over any road rage. Trying to point out other's faults or trying to teach them a lesson ends badly.

Looking at the body language, Mr. Brownshoes is clearly aggressive, while the fella' who laid his skinny-jean-wearing @$$ out was relaxed looking and didn't gesticulate wildly or appear to be as agitated. Quite frankly, until otherwise proven, I feel the punch was completely justified and appropriate. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the reason the puncher passed the punchee was due to hipster beard boy brake checking him or intentionally holding him up.

You know what they say: Never threaten an old guy. If he doesn't think he can take you in a fair fight, he'll just kill you.

A variation: Never mess with an old guy. "Life in prison" just isn't that big a deterrent to an old guy.

A very effective right hook! Lucky? Or experienced fighter? Doesn’t matter at this point. Good empty hand techniques get you into less legal problems than if he had shot the fellow. The older man used approximately the same level of force, without escalation. I was impressed with how quickly first responders were on scene

Nothing good ever comes from what's basically a voluntary confrontation. Many people have
