I tuned in to a movie with Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda. Nearly ovef and I didn't get the name, but there was a shoot-out between Stewart and Fonda. The gun Stewart used had a (apparent) 4 3/4" barrel with an ejector assembly. But in reloading,he swikngs ut the cylinder and ejects all cartridges, then reloads and closes the cylinder. I'm thinking maybe he was using a doctored up Colt New Service?

I was just watching a dumb western that is fairly new, don't remember the name, maybe supposed to be late 1880s. At 1 point a guy leans his lever action rifle against his shoulder. It had a fore end stock and a tube mag under the barrel. In the mag tube was a loading port. Yep, a modern Henry rifle.

Don't know, but here is 100 Pictures of the movie in Vivid color. You can see all the characters of the movie firecreek with shoot out scenes etc. Good Luck.

The Hollywood armorers also use substitute auto pistols. A lot of scripts call for 45 cal 1911s, which apparently are not completely reliable with blanks, and are too big for some actors' hands. So the "1911s" you see in a lot of movies (like The Untouchables, Pulp Fiction, etc.) are really Star Model A/B pistols, which look quite similar.

As always IIRC, FWIW, YMMV, IMHO, etc.

Frankly, I think giving that revolver to Stewart to use in "Firecreek" was an insult to him. The man had used Colt SAAs (or clones like Great Westerns) in countless films prior and knew his way around them.

As for Henry Company rifles, "The Legend of Five Mile Cave", an otherwise pretty decent western, has the lead character using a Henry lever with the funky loading gate on the mag tube in flash backs. In the current time, he uses a Rossi '92 carbine; it's appropriate for the time, but the top receiver safety should have been removed...

Sometimes I wish the armourer and/or prop supplier would do a little research before accepting the 'lowest price' stuff. It really can undermine the "willing suspension of disbelief" and "fake real" aspect of a film that the rest of the performers and production are usually aiming for.

Colt New Service in 44/40 for 3 in 1 blanks, with a SAA ejector housing on it. Stewart couldn't reload a SAA fast enough all shot up. Should have just given him a Schofield so it would be period correct, but that's Hollywood
