Just bought a Jack Weigand SRH+ for my 44mag. The directions do not mention putting Loc-tite on this model. Should I?

Lovely!! MidwayUSA told me I needed purple...and I bought it from them. $16.99!!! They said Purple because it is lower strength for small screws.

Mine have not backed out yet. 100 full-power 44Mag rounds so far.

I am a believer in some kind of thread lock. Loc-Tite blue works fine if you chemically clean the screw and hole threads (I use denatured alcohol) first.

Fairly fresh shellac works as well as anything and will not "set up like concrete" like I have had loc-tite do on occasion.

YMMV

I just took my Mark III to the range today with the kids (who had a great time, BTW), with a Tasco red dot on a Jack Weigand rail. I had cleaned the screws and holes before assembling it dry. After about 150 rounds, the rail was very wobbly, as the screws were backing out, so I removed the sight and the rail for the rest of the day. (Another 200-300 rounds with the iron sights.)

I think I'll get some blue Loctite...
