Now, in the north of Tuscany, near the Liguria region, the Appennine mountains get quite steep and somehow resemble the Alps. So, they call them "Apuane Alps".
This is the place where
Italian marble is extracted, since the times of the Roman empire :shock: And yes, you can see trees (at last), mountains, and the marble caves.
That's why they call 'em "Alps"
