I was able to hold strong for 3 weeks, but my gunsmith finally got me. He'd picked up this M77 Mk2 in .308 on a trade. We've talked in the past about the salt and pepper/stainless combo on the lever guns, and how much I like it. He wasn't sure if he wanted to keep it in his personal collection or let it go, leaning towards letting it go. Yesterday he told me what my price was and I had to do it.

Shipped in 2006, and according to this post https://www.rugerforum.com/threads/rene-info-on-77-mkiis.242100/, I think it is a Black Rock Special and based on location it probably would have sold in Montana. I have a handful of 30-06, but this is my first .308.

Very nice! The later version with checkering. It should also have the LC-6 trigger. I have significantly thinned the herd around here but still have a pair of this model in the safe. Mine are in 25-06 and 280.

Very Nice, Congrats
I have a Mini-14, Ruger #1 45-70, 10/22 International, 10/22 carbine and a 77/50 in that color combination. Also a Marlin model 60 SS very similar.

You're lucky I didn't get there first, I might have gotten a little loose with the checkbook on that one too.

Congrats

With those receiver dovetails and steel rings it will hold it's zero no matter how badly it gets banged around. I never did like the microscopic machine screws and separate bases most bolt rifles have.

Yep, order Ruger factory rings last week and I found a SS Leupold 3.5-10x50 for a semi decent price. As soon as everything gets here, I can get it and a couple of other guns I need to re-zero out for a workout. Guess I need to buy some ammo for it. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
