Installing extractor band and extractor M77

I got the new extractor band and have it on the bolt but I can't pinch it down hard enough to slide the extractor on. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

There is a tool for that but it's kind of expensive for a single job. You might try beveling the leading edges of the "feet"on the band a bit so they can get started in to the extractor slot and then let the extractor compress them as it slides into final position.
I'm talking about reducing the width of the leading edges of the feet at about 45 deg on each side for a short distance.

Good advice, I'll remember that if I ever have to do it again. I managed to slide one side in then push the other in with a screwdriver. It is back together and working just fine. Thanks for the reply.
