It's late,, and I don't feel like digging into the RENE guide.
Did Ruger make a 10/22 stainless Mannlicher stocked gun, 243 prefix? I don't collect 10/22's but it looked suspicious. I didn't think they made then in stainless.

RENE lists a K10/22RBI (Carbine with birch international stock) in 238 to 240 prefix. Could have possibly run into 241? This is my first venture into the RENE 10/22 pages so if I've screwed up please go easy on me.

Stainless International 10/22s were made... both with laminated stocks and walnut-stained birch stocks.

Don't know about the serial prefix range.

First,, I knew they made the 10/22 in the international style. Next,, I knew they had them in the laminated stocks. It was the birch stock,, along with the higher prefix that had me wondering if someone was swapping things around,,,!
And yes,, I was lazy last night,, as I knew I'd have to carefully read through the guide to make sure I was right or wrong. I just figured a 10/22 collector would have the info on the top of their head like I have with certain models,,,!
My bet was that someone swapped some things around!

Can't help you with the 10/22, but I can sure give you some pointers on being lazy - I've been working on that for quite a while, and I'm getting pretty darn good at it.

Every time I see one of those Internationals, I get the urge to cut all that extra wood off the forearm.... but that would involve work, and, as I pointed out, I'm lazy.

I don't remember whether it was here or at Rimfirecentral, but a few months ago there was a poster who was doing exactly that. He'd hacked off several of them, sending a number of other posters into attacks of The Vapors. :shock: Kind of amusing to read the various comments on both sides of the issue, especially as I didn't have a dog in that fight. :wink:

Ok chet15,, I had already figured it was a "put together," rather than a factory issued item. It caught my eye & I figured someone was foolin around with things.

i happen to have a stainless internationals , with the birch stock . all factory , have the box also somewhere . i think it was white . i posted pics of it awhile back. i would have to dig it out of the safe to check the prefix. not sure if this helps your question any , but they did make such a gun.

From the reference notes, a 243- prefixed 10/22 International is a possibility. You would just need a trusty factory letter.

I know,, I know,, but from what I saw,, I think this one was "put together" as the screws & forend tip etc,, all had a small amount of marks where "something" was done. But,, I just was too lazy to dig into the RENE guide that night,, but the prefix seemed a little high for a plain-jane international stock.

I've got a NIB Stainless mannleicher stocked 10/22 (laminate stock - WalMart Special) that I bought probably in the mid to late 90s. The prefix is 241.
