I actually used to like the food from Taco Bell, especially the "Taco Salad" which they no longer offer. But last night, after not eating anything from Taco Bell for several years, I gave in and bought their advertised $7 basket of various items (tacos, burrito, chips and cheese and more). It wasn't bad, but not as good as I had remembered. But today I am paying the price for eating that food. Maybe my system just doesnt work as well as it used to, but I am convinced that there is no more Taco Bell in my future.

When I left Montana as a young man, I was under the assumption that Mexican food was supposed to taste like Taco Bell or a fiestaTV dinner. After living in NM for 16 years and eating the best Mexican food on the planet, I can't stand the taste of any of it up here now, double down on that for taco hell!

I only eat Taco Bell soft tacos but better (and more $) can be found elsewhere. I've been told I have a cast iron stomach but even so I consider any fast food in general a toss up whether it's suitable for regular consumption so I stick with the following and I never have issues. When I say nothing below, means I'd rather go hungry and go somewhere else unless I were in the Gobi desert and McD's put a place there!

Taco Bell - Soft Tacos
Burger King - Double Whopper with cheese ordered off the grill so it's hot enough to melt the cheese.
McDonalds - Nothing... ever.
Wendy's - Shakes and fries.
Checkers - Chicken sandwich.
Arby's - Nothing.
Dunkin' - Egg on bagel.
Subway - Nothing.
KFC - Original chicken.
Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Little Caesar's and all the rest - Nothing.
Sonic - Nothing.
Popeye's - Fried chicken even though it's so greasy it may cause a heart attack.
Steak 'n Shake - Nothing.
Pizza / Italian food - Only privately owned local pizza / Italian restaurants. Hey, I'm Italian and fussy!

I like it occasionally...But my primary gripe with Taco Bell anymore is that for just a couple bucks extra, I can enjoy some REAL Mexican food at a REAL Mexican restaurant. And, wash it down with a nice cold beer!

I used to eat TB quite a bit. Then they slowly removed everything I like from the menu. After having not been there for a while my wife wanted to go, so we went in. The bill absolutely shocked me. TB used to be a cheap place for a quick bite. As stated above it is now cheaper to go to a lot of much better places for equal or less. In MI we have "Coneys" small diner type places everywhere. Some a really good, all are better than TB, most cheaper.

Where I live / grew up we have Taco John's. I have been to tacobell only a handful of times over the years. But sadly Taco John's isn't everywhere. I guess like DelTaco in CA.
But really a step up is not much more money but way better quality.
When I lived in AZ in the 1990s we would go to some restaurants but for fast mexican it was Filibertos. Back then you could get a burito as big as your arm for like 3 bucks!! Took my kids there on vacation in 2019 and it had gone up a bit ($9) but was still as big as your arm and sooo good.

Good luck and hope you recover soon. Lesson learned HAHA

Had you running for the border, eh?

Here in northern New Mexico we have several restaurants and food carts/wagon which do a much better job. There is no reason whatsoever to visit a Taco Bell unless it is late at night and they are the only one open.
About 20 years ago I lived and worked in the Las Vegas, NM area. The food was the best! Red or Green.

I haven't been to a Taco Bell in years. So many people on the various forums I go to always say how much trouble they have with the results od eatng their product. Funny thing is I never had a problem with TB chow but took the hinnt because of all the complaints. I'm in Tucson and there are plenty of good Mexican places if I want that kind of food and yeah, I eat a lot of Mexican food.

This will give the system a good jump start! Texas Hot and Texas Cheeseburger with sauce, onions and mustard and a side of French fries with gravy. For a little extra body have a couple of pickled eggs and a couple of cans of beer. You can clear a room with no problem.

The Taco Bell bean burritos are the only thing I'll order. I remember when they were available with red or green sauce. But the current pricing…

I can get a nice sit down lunch at our local Mexican restaurant for $7.99 that's a shredded beef Chimichanga, rice, and beans. And the owner is a super nice, hard working guy.

Taco Bell has never had the "cleanse" effect on me. But hoo boy- if I order anything from Arby's, it's a nuclear conflagration. My wife loves Arby's. Last time there I thought I'd outwit the burning ring of fire- so I ordered the chicken sandwich. Nope. Same results. Not fun.

I've found that the Happy Hour menu at many restaurants is cheaper than fast food. And for a filling lunch, order the salad and breadsticks at Olive Garden. All you can eat salad and breadsticks is a heck of a deal. My wife gets it with the soup too- but I'm not a soup guy. We'll, unless it's the consistency of chilli.
