I have been resisting the temptation to buy old models and right now my wife is out of work so double the reason not to buy but they have a good lay-a-way plan.

The gun is a "Win 22 MAG CAL" marked Old Model in say 90+ percent and a serial number 31648x. No box but the price was only $269.

I need to learn to just say no! Too bad I really am so tight I couldn't take it home but such is life.

Good catch. In my neighborhood any old model under 300 is a GREAT buy. Don't forget the pics when you get it home.

GREAT guns, saw one few weeks ago mint --gun only no box 650 dollars Bessemer. AL. CASCISHOW - you did good :D :D like steel shroud & the longer barrel that mag.--22 is under-rated they sure can whip on down the line--i have seen some fire around cy. shooting at turtles near dusk in backwaters of Tenn. River 8)

I LOVE mine. Have taken coon and fox on the trapline with it. Mine is a convertible. One of my favorite guns, and will be given to my 12 year old son. He likes to shoot it more than I do. I paid $170.00 for it about 8 years ago?

Thanks guys!

The irony was I drove almost an hour to get there but I went as they had a Ruger 10/22 for sale for a whopping $40. The wood was described banged up worse then anything you could imagine and the barrel had all kinds of scratches and no finish but for $40 I wanted it just for the action.

Well, it sold before I got there and I looked in the case and at first I simply saw an inexpensive old model. I asked to see it and noticed the markings and I have read enough to know it was more then just an old model and the condition was really nice.

After I get it I will post pics and I am not sure how this revolver fits in my ever growing Ruger collection but odds are good I will shoot it but I can not afford to allow my Ruger addiction to get any worse. I may also sell this gun after I get it as I still need a couple Blackhawk Hunters with the Newport address and I really need to stop my pack-rat-tendancies with those guns or I am going to Ruger myself into the poor house. I have a safe now that is basically full of nothing but Rugers

The best thing about OM Single Sixes is that you can still find them at 'reasonable' prices. While the magnum models have gone through the roof in many cases, the 22's are still out there at an affordable price. Probably because there were so many made. An RSSM at the mid $200 range is still a darn good buy. And a lay-away plan is even better, except that wait to get her out of jail! Congratulations on an excellent buy! I'll see you in the poor house!

I have one of those RSSM's myself and I'm crazy about it. It's in the 90% range and the fellow I got it from last year just found the box. He's sending it to me. He's a Forum guy, just another example of the class of people on this wire. A great bunch.

Here are the long ago promised pictures. Home sick today with my 6mo old (he was sick too) so I decided to take a couple quick shots of my RSSM.

The gun's cylinder is not marked with a serial number but I assume that is expected with this somewhat lower serial number. I also note that this is one of the Eagle Less barrels. There is not much else I know about it other then the trigger is very nice! The gun is not converted as well.

Now, I am not an old model collector and if this gun is special for any reason I would love to know before I start carying it in the woods trying to blast a varmint. If it has significance, I would like to know before I do it any harm and I would sell or trade as appropriate but I did buy this to use.

I believe you have model RSSMW with the "W" signifying "With Walnut Grips"!

It looks great to me! I had one that I dropped in a New Model .22 LR cylinder and found it to be "minute of Marmot" at 25 yards. Esp. when shooting Paco's Accurizer modified ammo.

Keep it, shoot it , enjoy it. I have 2 OMs and 1 NM (1975) all bought in the last three months because they were priced fair. Both my daughter and I enjoy shooting them. I wouldn,t mind getting my hands on a RSSM at that price.Great pics nice gun, Dusterman
