How Well Do You Like Your Sheriff?

We have a very pro gun Sheriff in my county. He is elected and is very well liked by most all. Here the County Sheriff department handles a various number of services. Animal control, noise abatement, traffic citations, evictions, just to name a few. Local town/city police handle their respective areas. Our State Troopers generally handle and patrol the Interstate (unless called for some other reason) and major State roads. Our Maryland Transportation Authority Police handles all the toll facilities and surrounding areas.

We're fortunate to have a great Sheriff here in Brewster County. He's easygoing but effective. The Department stays busy (we're on the border with sunny Mexico). And the largest county, by area, in Texas. Bigger than some states of the USA.

He also owns the LGS in town. He keeps talking about retiring from his Sheriff job. I hope when he does we can find a man as capable as him to take the job.

Mobile County has a great Sheriff Department. When I was in the real estate business I had to deal with deputies in regards to foreclosures and evictions. All were very professional. As it has it, the current Sheriff's grandmother and my mother were best friends.

Ours is pretty well liked. He's been sheriff for I think 15 years. Our LEOs have some sort of an agreement on patrolling, as both the State Troopers and the Sheriff have the ability to patrol in the City. I think it is because we have a number of County hiways and Interstates that traverse the City. Never heard of a jurisdiction issue here.

I liked the last one. He was trying hard to make changes. He gad defeated a long standing sheriff to get into office.

But the politicians blocked him at every turn. A DA that was in it just for his own liberal agenda obstructed any positive changes. In the end the politicians along with the criminal element and their families pushed him out.

The current sheriff is a place holder who has done nothing while crime has increased.

The former sheriff is running for supervisor and I hope he wins. The existing supervisor is another weak on crime panty waste.

I'm not sure I've ever seen a sheriff's car in Dallas. We have the local police whom I've called a few times with less than even acceptable answers.

Once it was a door to door salesman who I think was just casing the neighborhood for houses easy to break in later. I actually called 911 that time. They wouldn't even send a car through the neighborhood to check.

I always thought sheriffs are just for small towns?
It's been a while, but when I worked in Dallas to find a Dallas County Sheriffs Deputy you just went to the east side of the LBJ, out around Garland and Mesquite. You will usually find them and their radar guns there.

I'm 77 years and have lived in Riverside county most of my life. I have never had the opportunity to talk to or come face to face with the Sheriff. Why would I?

I have seen many Sheriff's make it difficult to impossible to obtain a concealed license until the courts forced them to. And it will be the Sheriff's that will enforce all the anti Constitutional laws that are being created. I don't know who to trust. I will continue the straight and narrow and hope I don't have to meet a sheriff or his minions.

Our county sheriff feels that concealed carry is a 'privilege' to be granted, rather than a right. Fortunately, he is coming up for reelection next month, and I will most certainly vote for someone else!
If you live in the Houston area, your sheriff's fascist opinion doesn't mean squat.
Texas law says otherwise.

Oue ex-sheriff is a Lodge brother and escorted me through my Master Mason examination. Don't know our current Chief or Sheriff. Know more of the Federal LEOs.

That would be just backwards from where I am from. Police Chiefs are the anti-gun liberal office guys and the Sheriff is an elected post. So, living in a semi-rural conservative area, we elect a progun and enforce the law guy.
