A local LGS (Green Mountain Guns, Lakewood) has about 10 or 12 No. 1's just received on consignment from a collector. I didn't handle any of them but a casual look from the counter seemed as if all were "as new". Anyway, most of them were chambered for pretty common calibers. Except I noticed one was a 22 PPC. All of these rifles, including this one, were priced at about 1K + or - a hundred or so. Was this chambering exceptionally scarce? Any unusual value to it?
How rare was a no. 1 chambered 22 PPC?

The 22 ppc is pretty rare. The 6mm ppc is even more rare.

I have a #1-V in .280 rem. Heard that it's kinda rare too.

I paid $1250 for mine 10/12 years ago and thought it was a fair price then.. I've tweaked mine and it shoots into the .3s Probably 500 or so and remember they aren't all consecutive so serial range is greater than total production.
Probably 300 or less in 6mm PPC.
As far as I'm concerned the .280 is the rarest "V" with the exception a few proto types. Followed by the 6.5 Creedmore and the 6.5x284. The 280 and the Creedmore are the only "V"s i don't own. I've seen 3, 280 "V"s in 30 years of serious collecting and none of the owners wanted to sell.
Damned few .243s from the original production year. That does not take into account the newer run of 26" 243 "V"s from Lipseys.

Was in the same shop about a month ago to pick up my 44 Mag #1 that I'd ordered.
They had about three No. 1's at the time, one had nice wood, but also had blueing salt damage. Think it must be the same collector and they are unloading a bunch of their guns.
Their prices on consignments are usually pretty good.

Old post but here are the exact numbers on production. I was a firearms examiner until my retirement 3 months ago. I have a connection at Ruger. I'm lucky enough to have both the 22 and 6PPC.
