I have them both-a Browning High Power and an M1917 Winchester made Enfield, took a big chunk out of my GI pay of 50 years-bought both on layaway of course. Haven't fired the M1917 in DECADES but the Browning is a frequent range companion-with its Ciener Conversion Unit.

I absolutely have my first gun, which is actually my second gun.

Maybe 1962...Dad took me to the second hand store, and picked out a .22 rifle for $3.50. When we got home it didn't work.

Went back to the store, and the guy showed us another gun, a J.C. Higgins single shot, but it was $5. Dad was mad cuz he figured it was a bait and switch, but he caved in. I got the gun I really wanted. The gun was really nice, and still is. I refinished the stock while I was in high school. My kids learned on it when they were young, and it's never left the safe, since.

Have mine... a Remington 581 22LR. Decades ago I sold it to my brother and then later bought it back - never will it leave my hands again. :)

For some strange reason my dad sold the guns I learned on. I remember a 22 rifle and a 357 which I believe might have been a Smith&Wesson.

I have the first gun I bought. A Ruger Mark II. It was a Christmas present to my wife.

We passed around an old Stevens .410 to start, my brother possesses it.

My first "all mine and mine alone" a Remington 1100 12ga was stolen a couple of years after I received it for Christmas, so sadly I do not have it.

I do still have the first gun purchased with my money in 1975, a Winchester 9422M.

Of Course, my first gun as a gift, High Standard Double Nine when I was preTeen.
then things get murky :), trading one for another, but nothing worth while

Sadly no. Years ago I fell on hard times and many had to go. I've since replaced it with one like it but it's not quite the same. It was a Savage Model 5 Deluxe given to me by my Dad, I was about 10 at the time.

I have mine, Winchester 67A Youth single-shot .22 that my dad gave to me on my 6th bday in 1987. It was his when he was a boy.

Went in the army at 17 when I got out my little brother had sold my guns fishing stuff and all of my traps and stretchers, oh well that was 50 years ago and yes we still talk.

Yep, Mossberg bolt 12ga with the adjustable choke. Killed my first deer legally with it and proud to say I cannot remember ever missing any thing game with it.

Wasn't as long ago as some here, but I still have my Ruger 10/22 I bought around 35 years ago. Paid around $110 I think and I still use it for varmints.

I have mine. My grandfather's Remington 41 .22. The first two guns I bought with my own money after I turned 18 were a Remington 581 and an M1 carbine, and I still have both of those, too.

Me, too! Remington 581 was my first gun that my dad gave me. I've since refinished the stock and scoped it. It sits in a corner of my living room with a 12ga (not my first), along with the first "big boy" gun that I bought - my tried and true Winchester 94 30.30. Those 3 guns rarely see the inside of the safe. They are my go-to ranch guns. I couldn't begin to count the number of rounds that 581 has consumed through the years, thousands upon thousands. I'm looking at it right now. :)

Still have my first 22 rifle, a hand me down from my father, my son has my first 22 handgun, a Ruger standard that I bought at 8 years old second hand with a holster and a spare magazine. My first shotgun was a bolt action .410 with screw on chokes went to my cousins when I got my first 12 gauge.

Yes! Remington 721 30-06. My first center fire rifle. My Dad gave it to me in 1962 when he bought the then new Remington 700 7mm Rem Mag. Before that I used his rifles for shooting and hunting....
