I recently acquired a birdshead grip Vaquero, stainless, .357 with a 4 5/8" barrel and micarta grips, serial number 58-794**. Used, but in excellent condition. I'm curious to know how many of these were made. Anyone know?

Thanks,
rt

Well, nobody has exact figures, but I would say at least several thousand. It seems that Ruger flooded the market with birdshead Vaqueros when they were introduced, and I'm not sure there was that kind of demand for that many birdsheads at the time. The stainless version as you describe, with black micarta grips, is known in the serial range of 58-45620 to 58-75520. If yours does not fall in this range, be sure to send me a PM so I can update my reference info.
Thanks!
