I have a MK III TALO edition 4.5" slab-barrel blued 22/45, with replaceable grip panels. While I mostly use the gun at the range (carrying it and spare magazines in a fitted attache-type case) as an analog practice piece for my 1911s, Hi Power, and Glocks, I can conceivably see carrying it on a hiking or camping trip as a "kit" gun, and the only holster that I currently have that fits it is a British Army issue canvas flap holster-What are your recommendations?

Best, Jon

I like these Triple K packer holsters with the extra mag pouch.

For a field holster, I like Uncle Mike's nylon rigs. I've found those made for single action revolvers provide a great fit for the Ruger MK series and Browning Buck Marks. They allow the gun to sit deep, offering protection for the adjustable rear sight.

I use Uncle Mike's #7 holster for my 22/45

battlecloth, nylon flap holster with extra mag pouch, several carry options, google around you should be able to find photos...that Triple K does look nice for leather by the way......

I recently got a NICE kydex holster for a MK series gun. I can't remember the name off the top of my head, but it'll handle all of my MK guns, with or w/o dots & scopes. Mine came via Midway.

I have a 4.5" 22/45 and it fits perfect in a nylon holster that is made for a 1911

I'll look into that. I ordered a Kydex and tried the shorty in it yesterday. To work as I wanted, I'd need to cut most of the "nose" of the holster off and that would not leave much holding the sides together. I then tried the 5.5" 22/45 w/reddot in the Kydex and that's where it's going to stay. Perfect fit for that pistol. I do have a couple of flap type nylon holsters around somewhere that I'll try the shorty in.

Black Dog Machine makes a nice one, and Tactical Solutions is reselling them, and midway has them on sale.

That's the one I got. I also got mine from Midway. While the holster is too long for a short barreled gun, I believe you could cut part of it off to shorten it if needed.

I can make one like this for the 22/45 with a retention strap. Not to brag but it will definitely be a better made holster than anything from Triple K and save you money in the process.
