over on the other Ruger forum, Rugerforum.net, a correspondent has a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt. The oddity is that he claims it to be a New Model Blackhawk with Old Model (Three Screw) parts installed in it.

I'm waiting for photos.

The correspondent posted photos later. The gun is a New Model Blackhawk, but the hammer is the old type, with the flat face. Also he states the loading gate will open, but the hammer must be placed at half cock for the cylinder to rotate.

Unusual modification?

And, after looking up the 1/2 cock conversion kits available, they do utilize the transfer bar. Either this was one of those with the hammer ground flat, or something else.

Yeah I seem to remember someone modifying those like that for competition of some sort. Maybe Bob Munden?
