Help with gun safety accessory

I’m looking for something I saw at a local gun shop that is now closed.

It was a metal tube a bout the size of a large coffee cup. Inside was filled with rubber or plastic. It sat on the counter at an angle.

It was to point a handgun into if you had to pull the trigger just incase it wasn’t cleared properly.

Anyone ever seen one? Know what it’s called?

Everyone I know clears the action. If you drop the mag and a round falls out when you pull back the slide and you see an empty chamber you're usually good.

I've seen the clearing traps made from coffee cans filled with sand. Saw a more elaborate one, I guess used for riles, made from a 25 gallon barrel filled with sand.

I would not consider a 'bullet trap' so much a gun safety device as more a tool. For sure the rule is to clear the action on any gun first... in fact as many of you know here... you ask to see a gun at the store... the clerk should check to see the gun is clear with nothing in it before ever handing it to you even if they have done the same thing a hundred times that day... then when they hand you the weapon the firs thing you do is check it again.

I'm pretty sure if I fired my carry gun into what was described, a a bullet would be flying around the room along with a lot of pieces of that cup and rubber.

One of the local 'cop shops' had a similar device. It lasted until moisture collecting in the lower end caused it to rust out. Not sure the origin of this 'moisture' but most likely from drunks peeing in the tube.
I made one for a guy using 6"x 6" x 3/8" wall square tube with a 1/2" plate base and filled with sand. It had a 'blast shield' on one side so any back blast was diverted away from the body. He used it to test used guns before offering them for sale. As far as I know it was satisfactory. Definitely an 'ear ringing experience' unless wearing a good set of muffs.

I've been using and recommending these for probably 20 years now. I can't find a link to my preferred company, but I did find the ones listed below. My preferred type will contain a 30-round mag dump from a full-auto M4, or one (1) round of .50 M2 AP ammo. They are NOT inexpensive.
