Has anyone tried 300 grain lead bullets loaded to 750-775 FPS range? I have been playing around with QuickLoad and it looks like it achievable within SAAMI pressure loads. It seems like it would be pretty good stopping power but looks like it delivers no more energy than a faster 240 gr load. Not sure if there would be more recoil due to the heavier slug or not due to the lower velocity. Any advantages or disadvantages to this idea??

Haven't tried it myself, but I have loaded 300 grainers in my .45 Colt at about 800 fps. The biggest issue you are going to have is the heavier bullets moving at those slower velocities are going to hit higher on the target compared to your point of aim, and you may not have a tall enough front sight to be able to regulate POI with the rear sight.

Hi,
I have loaded 300 gr lswc for my maggie around 1100fps using 2400 powder. You didn't mention which powder for the spcl. You might look at Handloading.com for more info
