But dropped in to the one in West Palm saturday.
Among the acres of Glocks and ARs I stumbled on this lonely Security-Six.
A little hagling produced a very reasonable price.
A 161 prefix so late production, she locks up tight as a vault with just a tiny bit of range.
The bore and chambers are filthy but she'll clean up nicely.

I think many of us old timers feel that gun shows in general are often a waste of time. They are often full of flea market items,,, & too much "black, plastic tacticool" to suit our desires.

BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,, You do occasionally find a jewel among all the other stuff.

Kudos on rescuing that Security-Six! Looks GREAT!!!!

Oh,, and I too occasionally find a jewel myself. About 6-7 weeks ago,, while strolling at a gun show,, I happened to spy an OM Single-Six. It was wearing Stags.
Yep,, it turned out to be factory stags on a 1958 Single-Six. I bought the grips & got a free gun! :D

Gun shows do occasionally deliver!

Thanks folks, she's a peach for sure.
In the same display there was a very nice Blue 4" Service Six in 38 Spec.
I didn't inquire about it since I was out of cash at that point.

Which gun show the fairgrounds or the armory (not sure if they still have them) I live in the area, have not been for many many years. I think COVID was the breaking point for me. Big prices as far as I could see. I am not skilled enough to see a diamond in the rough.

We were down there a couple of years ago camping at Lion Country Safari with the grandkids while my daughter was competing in a CrossFit competition in town. I drove past a big show at the fairgrounds but unfortunately didn't have time to stop in. It was right after COVID and prices/availability were still pretty bad. Still, I regret not going.

The last show I attended was mostly junk and ammo. One truly good selection was from the dealer that is around the corner (about a mile) from me. He had a selection of revolvers, long guns and semi-auto pistols. Most others were a waste of time to look.

Used to see good stuff and good prices back in '36 (I could fit into 36-inch waist paints then) but the last time was as mentioned, high prices and suspect quality and condition. I'm not an expert, but I spend some time on gun broker and gun auctions. Waste of time, big crowds, and some sleazy sellers.

Is that a "target model", or simply wearing a pair of target grips?...either way, it's a very nice 6-shooter.

DGW
It could be either. The box (if it came with the original box) might say that it is a GA34T (T for target grips) or someone might have bought them and replaced the original grips. I would suggerst getting the LOA (Letter of Authenticity) from Ruger and it will tell you what model it is, when it was produced and where it was first shipped to. Well worth the $10 fee.

I fully agree that most gun shows can be disappointing. As noted,, some,,, too much flea market stuff. And prices,, can be higher than we think they should be. But if the sellers were not making expenses & a profit,, they would stop buying tables, & spending the other money they spend to be there. So,, SOME people are buying stuff!

At a gun show,, among the tables,, you can find a deal or two if you know what you are looking at. Especially if it's a slow day for the seller. It doesn't always have to be a firearm,, but little things often pop up as accessories we can use. I've bought all sorts of little things I could use. I do not recall going to a gun show where I didn't buy something. It may have only been a set of Ruger rings,, or some brass, or whatever. But I found a fair purchase.

Prices,, yes,, the sellers at a gun show put a price on something,, but most often you can discuss the sale in a FTF manner that can often get you a fair purchase. At a gun show,, you can handle, study, & carefully inspect a gun or something BEFORE paying for it. At a gun show,, there's no shipping/handling/FFl fees. A sale is made by discussion & no "add-on's"

And if you find something,, and the seller & you can't reach an agreement,, you can walk away,, just like scrolling past an ad on GB or wherever.

Besides,, going to a gun show supports our Freedoms. If they went away,, the anti's would cheer!!!!! They would have to find a different "cause" other than the "gun show loophole" they clamor about.

All in all I think the OP did quite well in his purchase! KUDOS!!!!!!!!!!

It was the show at the fair grounds, on Southern Blvd about a mile west of the Tnpk.

No box with this one, just what you see in the pic, but for 425 out the door I'm happy. But I did find the takedown pin still in the grip locator. Makes me think those grips have never been removed.
Sugar River, I may have to start going back. Nice find.

What is the caliber?

I generally go to gun shows to sell something. There's lots of wishful thinking prices on junk. And at the same time, the table vendors want to give you pennies for what a private person is trying to sell.
If a table vendor asks me "what do you have on your gun" (gunshow lingo for how much?), I just tell them "no dealers".
