Is it possible to change a New SS Vaquero 45 Colt to a 45 ACP by simply changing to a 45 ACP cylinder. If so which 45 ACP cylinders will work if any? Also does Ruger sell cylinders or do I have to look for one from an individual?

Yes, it's possible to find a proper sized 45 ACP cylinder to fit your 45 Colt. You have to find one that "fits the window in diameter, AND especially the overall length. If you find one a few thousands longer, all good as you can hone it down.
Ruger will NOT fit a spare cylinder unless your gun & model was originally offered as a factory item.

Many of us get spare cylinders & swap them around, once we check the dimensions AND lock-up alignment.

I bought a couple on line and had my gun smith fit them and then shave the back side so I could whoot 45 ACP rimmed brass. Worked well.

finesse_r,

Ruger makes 45 ACP cylinders in two sizes, mid frame (like yours) and large frame. In most cases such as yours, it's far easier to sell your gun and buy the gun you want since you aren't familiar with doing this. Much less hassle as well.

Plus, stainless mid size 45 ACP cylinders are new and hardly available. If you want to search for one you need an overall measurement of yours in .001". Buy one no shorter than that.

Or get one here for $250: http://www.reedercustomguns.com/informa ... rvices.htm

Just swapping guns is probably starting to look more appealing....
