I chose to sleep in a bit this morning. Miss Penny has the day off, and has put in for vacation day for tomorrow,, so we are "off" so to speak.

As I was lounging & being lazy,, I reflected upon what this day represents a bit.

A large group of people,, committing treason against their controlling government, by declaring independence for the way they were being governed.
And I wondered,, what would happen if that were to be tried today?

But I'm profoundly glad they did what they did. Even knowing that their actions was punishable by death by hanging.

And the result of what they did,, caused a war. Even among neighbors & friends. But Freedom won out,, and America was born.

So,, today,, I'll quietly take the time & say; "I'd gladly stand with those men anytime."

Contender's comments reminds me that every time I read the last sentence of the Declaration of Independence I not only get tears in my eyes but I truly wonder if we have any men or women who would be willing to sign their names to a document like that today?
