I just bought a Ruger 77RL MkII in 250 Savage, I should be picking it up at the end of the week. I've got quite a bit of experience with .257 Roberts but none with the 250 Savage. I've got 100 grain Nosler Partitions, I think I've got some 110 grain Accubonds, lots of 115 grain Partitions, I've also got a box of the old Winchester SilverTips in 100 grain. My inclination is to start with the 100 grain Partitions.
What are your favorite deer hunting bullets for the 250 Sav? Favorite powders? I hope to stay in the 100-115 grain range.

When I was still shooting rifles I had a couple of dandy 250's & killed several Mulies with both. A bullet that was outstanding in both was the Nosler 85 he Ballistic Tip. I know most think that's a varmint weight bullet but that particular 25 caliber BT was superb on some big Mulies & a couple of Antelope. My other favorite was a 100 gr Hornady Spire Point flat base. Can't remember the powder charge right now & we are visiting in SC.

I'd stick to 100gr bullets (or less) and save the 110's & 115's for the 257. You don't need premium bullets anyway at 250 Savage velocities. Most 25 cal. cup & core hunting bullets are designed to hold up at 25-06 velocities and will be plenty tough out of a 250 on whitetails. I'd get some 100gr Sierra and/or Hornady SP's and use what shot best. They'll work fine in your 257 too.

I have a 250 Savage in a Remington 700 Classic and it does well with 100 grain Remington soft points and Win 760 powder for aroud 2800 fps. I havent shot a deer with it but it groups around a inch at 100 yards. I have been toying with the idea of a 85 grain Nosler Balistic Tip.

I have had good luck with IMR 4064 and 4895 with 100 grain Hornady's and Sierra's, both in accuracy and velocity. The accuracy edge goes to 4895 by a small margin.

I have an old M77 in 250 Savage. It has killed a lot of deer and a few hogs with a 100 gr. Hornady SP and Re15.

Hornady has discontinued the 100 grain .257 Interlock. If you like them, buy them where/when you find them. The last shipment was sent to Midsouth and they are all sold out.
