My wife has been having a hard time navigating steps. I have more than once suggested a ramp.
She was very resistant to the idea saying ramps are for old people. (We ARE old)
I decided to just go for it and ordered a ramp for our main entrance.
Winner winner. She can manage the ramp much easier than steps.
You married guys may not believe me but my wife said I was right to order it. WOW.

I'm in the exact same position and need a ramp out our front door (very shallow transition from the door threshold to our sidewalk). I was going to have one built out of plywood but would much rather have a ramp like yours.

Where did you buy this?

On Amazon. Look up mobility ramps 👍

And here I thought this was going to be a mug shot of some criminal 😀

The ramp looks nice

Looks great now but how will it be during winter?
Darn good question. I will have to research what is possible to keep it free of snow and ice.
Luckily most of the time we do not have to leave the house every day if the weather is scary.
So far I am the able bodied supply gopher, my wife can stay snuggled inside.

I'm in the exact same role (75 years old, wife 78). She has mobility issues due to banged up knees years ago and can barely walk (and has to use a four wheel walker if she does). We just bought a Pride Jazzy Ultralight electric wheel chair and it is fantastic. Slide out the battery and it weighs 33 pounds, easy to lift into the back of the pickup if we need to go anywhere:

In the past my parents have stayed at our house to watch the dogs while we go on vacation. They liked doing it.

I had to install a couple hand rails in the bathroom they used.

Not a big deal, and they actually look kind of nice. We just use them to hold towels these days.

But we are going to have the main bathroom of the house remodeled later this summer. I think I will have the company put in a few rails etc when they do it. It might help sell the house and won't cost much.

But things like this ramp, do they consider elderly people when building houses these days?
