UH, ok I guess. The handguard is only there to guard the support hand from heat and prevent direct contact of the barrel with support. Did the modification actually help?

Couldn't you have used a Dremel to relieve the inside of the forend?

i agree bypass.on the 16" installed a full rib faxon handguard.the rifle speed 12 position block- sets 1/2" in front of hand guard.no gas or metal interference. block is higher get rifle speeds straight tube. i believe on the 16 " it is the intermediate length tube
