converted to full moon clips.. the 45lc redhawk
can use 45acp with the ACP clips.. double duty 45acp and 45cl ...

How cool!!!!!!

have to admit I haven't shot it yet :-( but they work great !!!!!

http://www.pinnacle-guns.com/ did the machining and
http://www.tkcustom.com/cart/shopdispla ... &cat=Ruger sells the clips .

Not trying to plug them just saying who did the work :)

here is how they look :)

the redhawk is my Baby .. cut to 3" with rounded the grip and a few blackwidows
engraved in it :) Gary Reeder @ reedercustomguns.com made it :) I use Grizzly
300grn WFNGC in it .. it's my hunting back up.

That gun is great! A 3" barrel on that is very cool. I also like the rounded grip. Did you send him your gun, or buy one he had advertised?

More than a bit off topic, but we have that same "game" table and love it. Oh, they are great for posing guns and knives also...

Really nice.I had been thinking for some time about getting a couple guns cut for moon clips.I didn't realise it could be done so .45 ACP's could also be used. You have my wheels turning now. Thanks for sharing that.Nice gun.

keep in mind that there will be a longjump for acp to the forcing cone.
I'm told that affects accuracy. but if I can hit 4" @ 20yds I'm good with that.

it's just a sub load to practice with. but sure makes loading easyer.
and I keep 10 clips loaded with heavy stuff.

I hope to make it to the range soon so a range report is coming.

now you can use a heavy 454 boolit seated out !!!
there`s a group buy on castboolits.com (i think )
for just a boolit for the 45acp weight is 265 grs.
& i think you made a good investment in your redhawk!!!!!!
how much does it weigh ?????empty.

Does that mean you have to use moon clips for the 45 Colt cartridges or have the option to use or not to use moon clips for the 45 Colt?

I know of one local (Anchorage AK) gunsmith dishing out the ejector/cylinder to accept moon clipped 45ACP but also allowing use of 45 Colt and 454 Casull without moon clips. Being able to shoot the rimmed cartridges without moon clips seems to me more versatile (though slower to reload) and giving up a faster reload of 454s seems a minor minor drawback. Just a matter of personal preference, that, but the question still stands. Do you have to use the clips with the 45 Colt cartridges?

you can shoot 45 lc and if you have a 454 you can shoot them too with out a clip. the acp's always need a clip, unless you want to watch them
drop out the cylinder LOLOLOL

the whole point to the moon clips is a fast reload and keeps the bullets
together in your pocket, speed loader case, etc .. also when you empty
out the cylinder they all drop together ... while you can just use a speed
loader I found through years of using them it takes more time to push,
twist, and the you have the loader it's self to hang up. the moons go in
and come out as one item, not pushing, twisting, and nothing to hang .

watch these video's ...

http://www.myoutdoortv.com/pdk/web/smit ... J0KNWQYqM4

I hope there isn't a copyright on these ... the second one is on reloading.

hope this answers your question. Being in AK I assume the
company doing the moonclip work is wild west guns if so they
were recommended for the conversion but I went with http://www.pinnacle-guns.com/ just cause they were closer ..
well sort of .. lolololol

enjoy ... Talon

Oh .. someone asked about the weight .. I really don't know .. sorry

Hurry up and shoot it, then let us know.

I just bought a 610 in the last month, and now more than ever am planning on getting my GP100 cut for moons. Maybe the Redhawk too, who knows.

You got me to thinking now, and that can be dangerous - and expensive!

I've got a 5-1/2" Redhawk .45 Colt that just might get the same work done to it... That 3" RB conversion looks like the cat's meow!

H_Talon, have you shot that thing yet?
Just got 50 clips for the 610, ought to keep me going a while. Wont have to do any clip loading at the USPSA range, when I get there, been a while.

A pretty clean looking conversion, and you should be able to shoot .45 Auto Rim in there as well.

Did you have the throats reamed as well?
