Well, I made a choice between two #1's at the show today. My choices were a 1B 257 Roberts and a Liberty 1V 7mm Rem Mag. After lots of thought and some help from folks here, I decided on the 1V. As stated, a Liberty model, SN 130-17629. Really nice figured wood in excellent condition! :) Some quick pics......

Regarding that "second style checkering," can anyone tell me a bit more about that? I have several Liberty No. 1 rifles, only my .458 has the same pistol grip checkering as shown on the OP's magnificent 7mm 1V.

gatling,
Get a Ruger No.1 book and you will know the answers to these easy questions! see my ad in classifieds.
The checkering style changed from 2nd to 3rd in 1976, about mid year.
Heliman,
The neat thing about your new rifle is that is a very low # for a 200th year, has the 2nd style checkering and the early "big hole" horizontal split rings.

Actually, I am guilty of being lazy. I posted without checking first. I have that book already. Thanks for pointing it out to me.
