Gun Deer season , what are you using ?

In my extremely short season I carried a 5" 629 in a Guides Choice chest holster with a Cooper 54 in 7mm-08 backup for longer shots.

Next year I will hunt more days. I am 71 and need to take more opportunity to hunt before I no longer can.

One of the guns I planned I planned to use was my Contender with it's new 12" 375 Winchester barrel. Unfortunately I ran out of Reloader #7 powder after working up a good load. Tried some H-4895 today but velocity was only 1471 with 37.5 grains. This is a slightly compressed load and don't want to go with more powder. The Sierra 200 grain FN bullets have been very accurate with all loads.
I got 2 boxes of the Hornady Handgun Hunter 200 grainers. Accuracy in my 5" Super Redhawk and my 12" Encore is excellent so I will have both of them with me this Friday. For anything over 100 yards I will have my 20 gauge Encore.

I've got a 21" rifle barrel for my Contender, took it deer hunting one year and never got the chance to use it but if memory serves me it shot good with factory ammo

Daughter ended up with a nice one this morning ,

8 pointer, gun was Ruger American in 350 Legend , Hornady 165 gr. FTX, 78 yard shot dropped him right there

Just got my license and permits required for muzzleloader season here in NJ. WHEW!!!
Resident firearm license, rifle permit, zone-specific muzzleloader permit, and buck tag.
Total: $94.00!

Congrats to your daughter on a fine job.

Unfortunately, 375 factory ammo is almost impossible to find.
