I just picked up a barely used, no blemishes blued security six made in 1972. I've been reading up and notice several comments about later grips not fitting early s/sixes.

Does anyone know of a supplier for early s/sixes?

Thanks for any reply.

The earlier 151-xxxxx revolvers also have the older style grip frame.

A source of high quality grips for this variation is Herrett's. They will make a pair that is custom sized for your hand.

To clarify (or confuse) the SN issue, the very highest 150 prefixed blue guns had the revised frame, but the low 151 prefixed stainless guns still had the old frame. Somewhere in the 151-09xxx range, the stainless guns with the new frame started appearing.

But certainly a gun made in 1972 would be the old frame.

Question to the OP: Is your serial number below 150-03500? If so, could you please compare the extractor rod shroud to these pics and let us know which type it has - I am trying to narrow down the changeover from the cast type to the machined type:

I know the cast type appears at least through 150-01999 (which is a gun that just sold today on GB).
