I just bought a 6 inch stainless GP100, took it to the range with handloads (158 gr. XTP and 2400) and couldn't be happier. It is more accurate than my four inch Colt Python was, the single action trigger is nearly as good with no creep, but it is a bit heavier in pull weight. I was easily getting around 2 inch. six round groups at 25 yards with the load it liked, with five of six rounds touching.
What are my front sight options? I have a gold bead front and rear "v" notch set from an old Redhawk. Will any of the front sights for the Redhawk work with the GP100 or do I have to use the Super Redhawk sights? Would I be better off simply painting the face of my front sight a bright color to improve its visibility in low light hunting conditions? I'm not interested in any fiber optic beads. Thanks.
