GP-100 question

Hello all -

This is my first post on RugerForum and I have a question about my GP-100. As you can see in the photo, the screw under the cylender release button is protruding. I assume I ought screw it back in, but how far? And then Loc-Tite it?

You are correct. The screw should be screwed back in below flush with the recoil shield. They are supposed to be staked in to prevent backing out. It is the crane latch pivot and retains the crane latch inside the frame and provides rear lockup of the cylinder. Here is a link to a Numrich schematic:

purple loctite is best , it`ll let the screw be removed with out too much trouble if it ever has to be.
