I have that same gun. Need to find some power pistolBeen a 44 Spl shooter and reloader since 1974, Brian Pearce in Handloader magazine produced many loads for 44 PL and the very best load I have ever shot in a 44 SPL comes from his work.
It is a 240 SWC over 8.0 grains of Power Pistol and a standard large primer for under 17K on pressure and 950-980fps depending on bbl length. Extraordinary accuracy and I've switched all my 44s over to that load. The old Keith load and the Skeeter load have been retired at this house.
That looks a lot like mine, except mine is a conversion from the 357 75th (?) Anniversary Flattop to 44S. And mine is the 4 5/8" barrel.Yep, Power Pistol makes a good load too. 8.0g puts it about the same velocity as the Skeeter load. I've marked is as accurate in my load table. I've got lots and lots of Unique and the Skeeter load is plenty accurate for me, so sticking with until it is gone.... which will probably be when I am pushing up daisies.
Nice flattop! My two .44 Special flattops are both 5 1/2" barreled. One Bisley and one plow handle. The plow handle one is the one that gets the most use here.
