Well My son took my 7.5" 30 carbine home with him and made it like I wanted it. It now is a 4 5/8" 30 carbine and is a great shooter. He put a taller front sight on it from brownells. I took it out today and got it set. I had to file down the front sight to get it to set. I set a box out at 25 yds and drew a spot on it about the size of a silver dollar. Then I set the rear sight as low as it would go and started filing and shooting. When I got the bullets hitting about 3" below the spot I quit filing and adjusted the sight up. Now I have about 4" of down adjustment and plenty of up adjustment. The pistol shoots great. I put the last 5 shot's inside the silver dollar size spot at 25 yds. I like this little pistol a lot now. Outside of the 13 degree crown the pistol looks like it was made that way from ruger. My son did a great job on it. I now have all calibers that ruger offers in 4 5/8" plus one they don't but should. It really makes a sweet shooting little pistol with the short bbl. It got a little louder but not bad maybe the 13degree crown pushes the noise forward more than a flat surface would.

Nice, but you know you can't post something about a gun without pic's, right? Sounds like a neat little gun, I know I would like to see some pictures as would everyone else.

Take care

tek---

Did you pull the barrel and cut the crown on a lathe or just use a hand cutting crown tool?

sebtool: as long as he is progun, we need all the help we can get.

tek4260: really outstanding work; my only critique is please have the courtesy of having all the panels of the comics in the pictures so we are not left hanging. Garfield is one of my favorite nonsensical comics I turn to for comic relief .

tommy kelly: I still believe their talent may be God given, but their work ethic is family given. A preacher was fond of saying that luck came in overalls and looked like work. He also said success was often 5% inspiration and 95% perpiration.

I agree, the fireball using factory ammo has got to be very impressive. I'd shoot a few cylinders in a dimly lit indoor range and see how many looks you can get!
