Has anyone heard if this can be done? Also does anyone know what metal they are made from?

I am getting some custom grips made and want the medallions gold.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Mike

Ruger grip medallions are made of plastic. HOWEVER,,, if you want some gold colored ones, look at the ones for the Red Label shotguns. A little smaller than the normal medallions, but gold in color.

try a trophy shop or model shop, they may be able to plate (anodize?) the plastic for you, other wise, Testers model paint, in gold, with the specs and all that glitter..................

I often wondered what they were made of as well so I ran my metal detector over one in the grass and sure enough, I got a hit. The discrimination adjustment leans towards zinc and/or aluminum.
Gold leaf might be something worth considering.

I mis-typed the material in the medallions. They are an aluminum alloy. I'd been fooling with some plastic stuff on a sight pusher & had plastic crap on my brain. Duhh,,,,!
Anyway, the brass ones can be plated easier, or just polished out to look a bit like gold.

Been there done that. And once was so deeply involved in a project that I had dreams about it. Try explaining that in the morning.

Heck, I did that last night. I recently shipped an item, and I swore I sent some paperwork. Well, the paperwork didn't arrive & last night I tried to re-send some copies. I woke up last night worrying about it & even think I'd been dreaming about it. I made a phone call this morning,, and all is good.
Getting older sux!
