This is an OLD post that I've been trying not to respond too... but it keeps popping up so I'm going to relate a couple of ghost incidents (not ALL of them) that occurred in a house that I bought "for a very good price". It was a gorgeous, very long, ranch house with a Vermont Slate roof. What I didn't know was that the owner's wife intentionally drowned herself in the private lake of this gated community. She was an older lady, but managed to get into a rowboat that were kept for residents, paddle out, and tie a rope around her neck and a cinder block.
Fast forward about years 3 and 4; three (of several) distinct incidents (two involving water).
1) Smoke alarms in house go off in the middle of the night... Was able to see vast amounts of smoke at the far end of the house towards the garage. Go to investigate before calling fire brigade. Turned out that the water softener was pouring water into it's drain in the slop sink in the basement; slop sink had pump to send water up into septic systems. Shut the power, opened the windows and thought nothing more of it UNTIL quite some time later...
2) There was a "guest quarters" with a full bathroom above the garage... this is where the ghost 'lived' as I found out later. There was a full bathroom up there. One morning, I was going into the garage to go to work and saw a deluge of water pouring thru the ceiling from (guess where). The toilet tank in the bathroom of the "ghost's" quarters had blown apart and was pouring water all night through the floor into the garage. WHO has EVER seen a toilet tank explode..????
But the best was yet to come....
3) I had re-connected with a girlfriend who I had not seen in 20 years (since going on active duty in the late 1960's). One evening, I drove her way out to my house on this beautiful mountain. We had gone out to dinner and went back at my house until it was very late; and I had a long drive to get her home. I left her in the living room while I went to the bathroom and, when I came back into the living room, she was obviously somewhat shaken. She said: "guess what................. you have a ghost in here". I asked her about it and she said it was "an old lady and she had come down the stairs from that "guest quarters" you showed me earlier. When she came through the dining room and saw me here in the living room, she was very angry; she turned and went back out".
There are more vivid stories, but this post is already too long....
