So, I went out today looking for a Ruger Model 77 chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. I went to a gunshop that always has something interesting to look at. On the used rack was a Ruger MK 1 Model 77 chambered in 7mm Rem Mag.
HOWEVER, this one had a crowned muzzle and a pencil barrel. The barrel was after market. Turns out it was a "Garrett Accur-Light" custom barrel. It also had a custom aftermarket fiber glass stock.
Some research produced little information about Garrett. I guess he made these rifles in the early 80's. They apparently have a reputation for superb accuracy.
We shall see... 'cause I bought it. The original owner put it on consignment at the shop.

Anyone know anything about these rifles? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Looks like there was a company by that name started in 1983 in Salt Lake City, but it's hard to find info. And please don't take this the wrong way, but it seems like maybe they were trying to cash in on Jarrett's Accu-Light rifles, which Kenny started building in the late '70s. Hope it shoots as good as it carries, just don't expect much after three rounds heat the barrel up!
