I was re-checking some of the mfg. dates on some of my Ruger pistols while I had the safe open. My nicest 6 inch Standard model I dated years ago and it came up as mfg. in 1956. I re-checked it today using Ruger's current method and it came up as 1955. Here's the funny part of the 6 digit tiny serial number is the number is 1022xx I bought this pistol at a gun show about 25 / 30 years ago. It was very dirty and oily with no box. After getting it home and cleaning it, I now think it is close to new as one can find. I have never fired it because it is so nice. Sorry I can't do pictures. What year did Ruger come out with the 6 inch Standard model ?

According to the RENE,, the lowest serial number for a RST-6 was 96553, made in 1954. 1022xx would be 1955.

Yeah, I think the RST6 was first introduced by Ruger in December 1954.

Since the USAF used these as pilot survival guns I never knew of them with the 6" tube until now?
