Just thinking out loud here. I've got a Speed Six I bought a factory front sight for. Can a person replace that himself or would special tools and skills be needed, such as vice, special punch, etc. The front sight is held on with a small pin and I also ordered that from Ruger. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I just pulled my speed six front sight over the weekend. I used a small punch and small hammer. I reblued it and put in back in using the same pin and tools. You can't tell it was removed.

Fixed sight Sixes have 3 heights available: .182", .206", and .266", and are held in place with a role pin. The replacement front sight requires drilling from both sides once the sights held in place using lock jaw pliers. Bit diameter in .062". Then roll pin is tapped in using a roll pin punch. The use of a drill press will probably be a better way to go.
