Found a clean, walnut-stocked 10/22 carbine, today. Local/private party sale.
Posting has been up for a couple of days. He was asking $250, "OBO." I figured it was worth every cent of the $250, but I thought I'd better haggle, just out of principle.
I wanted to offer $230, but didn't want to offend him. I considered offering $240, but that $10 was hardly worth dickering over.
I was almost embarrassed, and I mumbled something like, "What's the best you can do?"
He said, "How about two and a quarter?"
DEAL!
I think Dan (rugerguy) has a saying along the lines of, "They're still out there!"
There was certainly one out there, today!
It likely shipped in 1979, as per Ruger's website. It's wearing a Weaver scope base, and factory irons. The seller bought it with a steel-tube Weaver scope, that he wanted for another project…
Not really sure what I'm going to do with this one. I already have several 10/22s, with scopes, peeps, Tech Sights for Appleseed, etc.
I have a (slightly rough) Canadian Centennial model that I bought a while back, as it was the cheapest "finger-groove sporter" style that I could find. It's got a K2.5(?) Weaver on it, which seems like it would have been a good choice for this carbine. No sense in duplicating that setup…
I suppose I could just leave it bone stock!
