.32 S&W, 32 S&W Long, 32-20, 327 Magnum, 32 H&R Magnum. Help!! Do all shoot out of a 327 magnum?

JimP

All theoretically except the .32-20 which is a completely different design/diameter case with a neck down to the bullet. It was originally a rifle round chambered in the Win 73 - then chambered in the Colt SAA.
...and why some of us have been itching for a mid-frame Ruger New Vaquero/Flattop in a convertible .32-20/.327. USFA made such an animal as a limited production item a few Christmasses ago. Drool.

I don't think we could keep a .327 section going much. My handle says what I think of .32's, I think so I am pro-32 to the gills. It is a niche caliber though and reality is that most folks gravitate these days to .380's, small 9's or .38/.357 5-shot revolvers for Carry guns. I even did this myself with a S&W Shield 9mm(I generally don't care for "plastic" but the gun fit my hand and is easier to conceal with 2 mags than my 3" Sp101). I am not ditching any of the 15 .32's I own so don't worry.

I admit that I find less 32H&R and 327 ammo than some others but I see more of it in shops now than I saw of .32 anything before the 327 came out. As far as expense, I don't see it costs any more than the other stuff, there is just not a lead plinking load out there that costs $5 less (which is why I reload with Clays and 115 gr RNFP). SD ammo is about $1 / round. The 50 count box American Eagle stuff is $25-30 / box. Starline Brass is really the best way to go. I had my fill of Federal's brass with the 32 H&R cases splitting on new ammo ( 12 rounds in a box of 50) in the late '80's. I have had a few 327's do this as well (2-3 out of 7-800- not terrible).

I would buy at least 2 .32 Convertibles (I have the Buckeye and the SS Davidson's Vaquero already), maybe more if they offered different models like the FT and NM Vaquero .45 Convertibles.

I hope the folks at Lipsey's see the interest here... Hint.. Hint... Holler!! Hey! Please do this!

Thanks,

There is some good information on the Beartooth Bullets Forum about the .327 Federal...

I have both the GP100 and the Blackhawk in 327 Fed Mag. I like both. I thought about the SP101 in 327 as a carry gun. I thought I would have the hammer bobbed for concealed carry but I didn't get around to getting one. I'm glad I got the BH with 8 rounds ! As mentioned in another post Cheaper Than Dirt has alot of 327. I usually buy from Target Sports USA because I order a case and therefore I get free shipping. Target Sports has only the Gold Dot 100gr cartridges but I telephone Federal in Nov 2012 and they said they would start production on their 327 ammo in early December. Gold Dot said they have not dropped the cartridge from their product line. I buy this cartridge online and usually I don't have a problem. My LGS also has Federal Mags in stock and I buy occassionally from him.

I'm in for a .327/.32 H&R subforum on this forum!

Just saw this post. I have one .327 Fed Mag revolver and five .32 H&R Mag revolvers. I like the .32 caliber platform.

Having said all that, there is no room left for another sub-form within RF. Others have asked for subforums for Ruger shotguns and for Classifieds feedback and the word from I_Like_Pie has always been that we are maxed out. The software used here will only support so many subforms.

You're all quite welcome to discuss it within the revolver and reloading sections though. 8)

I think the consensus, and the technical limitations, combine to say we should not try to have a separate .327 forum. I am interested in collecting all of the .327 articles from gun magazines and reviews, though, and may put together a list of links of those items and perhaps to some of the published reloading data. I too like .327 (in my GP-100) and enjoy shooting it and reloading it. Thanks all for the comments.

I don't mind following on the revolver and reloading forum. I would love to see more guns chambered for this fantastic round .

Current count 327s. Black Hawk 8, GP100 7, SP101, S&W 632, and a Taurus 2 inch. What can I say, I love the cal!

If the .327 is dead how do you explain this auction:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=325229941

This is currently at what used to be about MSRP.

Yes. GP100.

The auction was for SP101. I believe that caliber has been discontinued in that model. Thus the high bid..... 8)

No, I think it needs to stay in the revolver section. We need to do better when we start a post by identifying it as 327 Magnum. S&W is doing poorly selling the J frame revolvers, and they refuse to make it in a K frame (six shot) or L frame (seven or eight shot). I took my model 16-4 and reamed the cylinder to fit the 327 and it is great to shoot. I also bought the blackhawk, but I have not gotten a chance to shoot it.

I have been putting off buying a 327 Blackhawk and now that I cannot get one, I am anxious to put in an order. I bought the RCBS dyes last year. Sure hope Ruger starts production again.

A 327 Blackhawk just sold on Gunbroker for $1000. Used, but never fired. I love mine, but if someone offered $1000, it would be hard to turn down!

Sorry, you would need $2,000.00 for a Freedom Arms. There is one on GB and they want $2,499 for it!!

You guys beat me to the results of the Blackhawk auction, should I sell the one I just bought (and haven't even picked up yet) and double my money? The frenzy is really on.

If "converting" that cash to another SA(s), I would take the $1000 and transform one of my Single Six .32 Vaqueritos to .327, AND my .357 New Vaquero to .38-40/.40/10. I'd also contemplate trading for a 4-3/4" NV (or the above) and converting to .32-20/.327. Lots of choices would become available:) before I'd buy "just" one gun from the sale. If I spent anything close to that on one, I'd look for someone who just had to get rid of their USFA Double Eagle.

Another GB Auction for SP101 in 327 went for $915. This is crazy!
