A provision in the new defense dept. authorization bill authored by John Murtha ensures that old US milsurp weapons won't be destroyed.

quote:

>Sec. 80189. None of the funds available to the Department of Defense may be used to demilitarize or dispose of M-1 Carbines, M-1 Garand rifles, M-14 rifles, .22 caliber rifles, .30 caliber rifles, or M-1911 pistols, or to demilitarize or destroy small arms ammunition or ammunition components that are not otherwise prohibited from commercial sale under Federal law, unless the small arms ammunition or ammunition components are certified by the Secretary of the Army or designee as unserviceable or unsafe for further use.

The Law means nothing to these extreme leftists.

They will simply have the "designee" certify the weapons and ammo as "unserviceable or unsafe for further use" and then proceed to destroy them.

They are liars....

...and Murtha is still a POS.

And all of the old M1's, carbines, 1911s have already been destroyed (thank Bill Clinton for that) . All of the M16's are either full auto capable or 3 round burst. So you will never see those. They will probably ship the old ones to other governments. A symbolic provision at best.

Same with the M14s, even though they have been welded so they can not be fired full auto, they will never be sold to the public because they were originally configured as full auto.

I not sure what you mean by "old M1's, carbines". Both of those rifles are available at the CMP. Delivery is from 1 to 3 months, all are , at minimum, "rack grade", but all are genuine GI firearms. Prices range from $495.00 up to $1500.00 for some of the National Match rifles, plus shipping of $22.95.

PS - BTW, I do own a few them, and enjoy shooting my pieces of history.
