so i just recieved 500 starline .44 spl brass from midway and i noticed the flashholes are slightly off center. has anyone encountered this and is this going to effect depriming?

ive always had a large stock of once fired brass onhand so i never noticed this before.

Shouldn't be an issue as the depriming stem floats in most dies. It can also look offcenter but be right on because of the way the human eye has difficulties with depth perception.

Not in IL anymore ... :)
I have small batch of AMerc .45 Colt brass that has flash holes so far off I used a hand decapping tool to avoid ruining any pins in my sizing die.

I don't know what effect these off center flash holes will have on ignition, but I've been told they won't hurt any.

?????...Maybe if the locknut isn't tight?!? The decapping stem doesn't "float" in any of my dies otherwise. I wouldn't worry too much about the flash hole being a "little" off center, I've seen Starline brass like that myself. However a centered and tightened decapping stem still worked OK. I think if I had some so far off center that you have to deprime with a punch, I'd be boycotting Starline brass! ...FWIW, Dennis

.

Years ago had some SAKO 222 Remington Magnum brass with off-center primer pockets and flash holes.

Ended up loading them with hand operated Lee Loader dies and a mallet.

Shot OK.
