Fixes for "sharp" trigger guard?

I just bought a SP101, stainless, 2.25" barrel, and the edge on the trigger guard on the right hand side is almost as sharp as a knife. I haven't fired the gun yet, but I can envision it slicing my finger open. I would imagine it could be filed down a little to smooth it out and take the edge off. I'm a little hesitant to just start grinding away on it, though.

Anyone else encountered this? Any recommended fixes?

No grinding!!! ;)

I use a round needle file to just break the sharp edges. Then varying grits of sandpaper to smooth it out and blend it.

You don't have to remove very much material at all to break those edges.

Thanks! That's a much better approach than duct tape....

I wrap a small-diameter wooden dowel with varying grits of paper, and work very slowly, chanting "I can always take more off".

I break the sharp edges off of ALL my guns.

You could do this in just 20 seconds with 400-600 wetordry sandpaper, lube with a little oil and walla, it will look and feel better that ever.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll give it a try. My efforts usually turn out like Tim the Tool Man, but maybe I can approach this "delicately."

using the fine wetordry sandpaper should keep you out of trouble.
