I spotted this in the used rack at a gun store last week. It was a 10-22 youth model---short stock and short barrel. First time I have seen a 10-22 with these markings and also the first time I have seen one with a 4 digit prefix serial number. Are both of these fairly new, or have I just not been paying attention?

I bought my wife this 10/22 shortly after they came out. Just an fyi , my wife stands less than 4'10"! It's a perfect fit for someone her stature.

Yeah.... they've been numbering them that way for a while. They ran out of prefixes in the 85x- series (to 859-99999) then had to come up with something different, so they began anew at 0001-00001. That's how many they've built since they made the change... over 2.2 million.
